Elmer Welch

Elmer "Mutt" Welch was born is Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. He was raised by his grandparents Elmer and Melinda Welch who lived in Morgan Siding. His parents are Delbert Earl Welch (deceased) and Velma Hammer Welch.

 

Elmer went to Morgan School until it closed at which time he attended Lyndhurst, Gresham, and Bowler Schools. He also attended Operating Engineers School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Elmer married Barb Malone. They were married for 14 years and had two sons; Elmer L. Welch Jr. (Mutley), and Justin E. Welch. Elmer has another son named Bradley Welch from a different relationship. He also has eight beautiful grandchildren.


Shooting pool, visiting friends, used car shopping, playing cards, visiting casinos and fishing are all things he enjoys doing with his time.


He has had jobs at the Neenah Foundry, Elmtree Bakery, and holds an apprenticeship journeyman card through Operating Engineers. "I am proud to say I was raised to have good work ethics from my grandparents," Elmer explained. His last employer was for Menominee Tribal Enterprise. He worked there for almost 27 years. That job ended due to health problems that required four by-pass surgeries.


Some words of wisdom Elmer has for the youth in the community is to "Get a good education." He would also like to mention the old Indian saying, "don’t judge your neighbor ‘til you’ve walked a mile in their moccasins."
