GENERAL RESPONSIBLITIES

Responsible for the organization, integration and effective use of resources within the Environmental Services Department to carry out the daily department’s assigned tasks and responsible to carry out the department’s daily assigned tasks and responsibilities.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

1. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Mohican Nation Gaming License.

2. Must submit to a Criminal Investigation Background Check (CIB).

3. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug screening and health screening.

4. Must be flexible with schedule to work all shifts, weekends and holidays.

5. Must be able to work with a variety of people with diverse personalities.

6. Must have a positive attitude and provide a teamwork structure within the department.

7. Must exhibit Star Service Standards at all time while on the premises and/or offsite.

8. Must be willing to enhance self-development and be willing to adapt to change.

9. Must be willing to attend all applicable training.

10. Must have demonstrated ability to maintain a satisfactory working record in any prior and/or current employment.

11. Must be able to work under stressful situations daily.

12. Must be able to provide consistent, positive leadership and clear collaborative direction to assigned staff to meet the goals and objectives of the department.

13. Must be at least 18 years of age.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

1. High School Diploma or GED is required. 

2. Associate’s Degree or certifications in management, supervision, inventory control, facility maintenance, environmental cleaning services, or similar field is preferred.

DUTIES

1. Establishing and maintaining and annual (approved) departmental operating and capital purchase budget through the efficient and effective use of scheduled labor, supplies and use of equipment.

2. Responsible for the weekly departmental timekeeping functions which includes the documentation of employee use of accrued time, working with the departmental supervisors to have time records turned into the Environmental Services Manager on time for final approval.

3. Perform, review and approve annual employee performance reviews and then submit such documentation to the Director of Security and Facilities for approval.

4. Insure daily that the organization’s environmental cleaning service stands are being maintained throughout the facility and by all department personnel by utilizing the Environmental Services Supervisors as the department’s quality-control inspectors.

5. Provide daily direction and supervision to all Environmental Service staff to achieve stated goals, objectives and initiatives of the department.

6. Development of daily/monthly work schedules in coordination with the Environmental Services Supervisors to best serve the needs of the organization and the varying levels of business.

7. Maintain and update the organization’s Materials Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to reflect both accuracy and timeliness of such information.

8. Assist and coordinate with the Facility Manager in maintaining the facility’s readiness for annual state building inspections as well as Indian Health Services (IHS) Health and Safety . Reviews, which will require continual coordination and communication with other staff as well.

9. Insure that all departmental equipment and supplies are properly maintained, utilized in an appropriate manner, and properly accounted for.

10. Determine and maintain departmental supplies and equipment needs daily; and arrange for order and delivery of additional supplies and equipment as needed.

11. Coordinate necessary repairs and preventative maintenance needs with the Facility Manager.

12. Determine and work with assigned staff to meet department training/certification needs, and provide assistance with required travel arrangements for such activities.

13.Make recommendations to the Director of Security and Facilities as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. North Star Mohican Casino Resort is looking for a courteous and friendly individual.  Prior experience with inventory control is a plus.

2. Must have and be able to demonstrate a minimum of two years of supervisory and/or management experience.

3. Must have two years of demonstrated experience working in janitorial, housekeeping or environmental cleaning services or a similar field in a commercial and/or public environment.

4. Must be able to demonstrate and exhibit above-average organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills and computer skills (which include but are not limited to Microsoft Office/Excel).

5. Must be able to demonstrate and exhibit positive leadership skills and abilities, clear, collaborative direction to assigned staff to meet the goals and objectives of the department.

6. Must be able to carry out assigned tasks and objectives with minimal supervision.

7. Must be able to physically perform the job duties (as listed below) and maintain the departmental job performance level.

8.  Must adhere to all established rules, regulations, procedures, and policies of North Star Mohican Casino Resort and the Maintenance Department.

9.   Must dress professionally.

10. Must be reliable and prompt when reporting to work.

11. Must adhere to the Casino’s Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy during employment.

12. Must maintain compliance with all workplace policies, procedures, ordinances, laws and other communicated expectations, including and not limited to: Employment Handbook, Gaming Ordinance, State Gaming Compact, Minimum Internal Controls, Department Procedures, memos and other communications from supervisory or regulatory personnel.

13. The above-mentioned duties and responsibilities are NOT an all-inclusive list, but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position.  The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based upon organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the departmental director.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

1. Must be able to frequently bend, sit, walk extended distances and remain standing for extended periods of time, reach with hands and arms and talk and hear.

2. Must be able to reach and twist routinely; able to push, pull and grasp objects with hands and arms frequently; be able to utilize repetitive hand and wrist motion; able to use ladders and stairs occasionally.

3. Must be able to lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds frequently and up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally.

4. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision and depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus; with the aid of prescription glasses/contacts, if needed.

5. Work is generally performed in a workshop and/or casino setting with a moderate to higher noise level and where cigarette smoke is prevalent.

6. Work environment requires excellent personal hygiene due to working near others.

7. Work environment is NOT smoke, noise or dust free.
