William Burr was born in Shawano WI to Louis Burr Sr. and Mary Burr. He had nine brothers and six sisters, and was raised on a farm in Morgan. William said that he is thankful to God for all the blessings he has been given.
William went to school at the Mission School, Morgan Siding and he went to Gresham School. William stated that he wouldn’t be the person he is today if it wasn’t for his two parents. They were real good parents and raised him and his siblings very well.
William is married to Patricia L. Burr, whom he loves very much. He also said that the best time in his life was when he met his wife. William has an 11-year-old daughter named Lucy. He loves her very much and enjoys spending time with her after work. Lucy is in the 6th grade, "I just don’t know where the time goes, it goes by so fast," William stated about his daughter. He also has a son, Chad, whom is 31 years old. William is very proud of his two children and very happy with them. He has a grandson named Mason. "They are fine kids," stated William about his children and grandson.
When he was younger William enjoyed being outdoors in the woods. He said that he enjoyed that very much. He also stated that once in a while he liked to go hunting but he mostly liked to be out in the woods.
William helped his father on their farm when they were younger. His father owned a farm in Morgan where William’s brothers and sisters as well as him would help his father out with the daily chores.
He worked in Shawano at a door company that is now closed down. He worked at the door company for 26 years. He said that he enjoyed working in Shawano. William now works at the family center, which he enjoys very much. He has always wanted to work for the tribe, which he is proud and honored to be doing now. He said that he enjoys working for the family center because the staff is so friendly and helpful.
Williams lesson for the youth is to stay in school and get a good education. He also said that kids should stay away from drugs and alcohol.
