GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Ambulatory Nursing Manager is responsible for coordination of services and patient flow in the Ambulatory Care Department. Supervision of nursing and support staff in the Ambulatory Care Department. Works under the clinical direction of the Physicians and Nurse Practitioner.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

All employees of Stockbridge Munsee Community must meet the following qualification:

  1. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and health screening.
  2. Must be at least 18 years of age, unless otherwise stated on job description
  3. Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record
  4. Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays
  5. Must obtain and maintain Elder/Youth License as stated on job description.
  6. Must be COVID 19 fully vaccinated and remain up to date with required doses.

DUTIES

  1. Provides supervision and direction of nursing and other paraprofessional staff in ambulatory nursing department. This includes provision of orientation, scheduling, provider scheduling, and staff development for RN’s, LPN’s, medical assistants, reception/scheduling, and related staff. Participates in provision of ambulatory nursing care as needed.
  2. Provide patient education to patients and family and assists in development of specialty clinics.
  3. Coordinates patient education, specialty clinics. Assist Medical Director with establishment of disease registries, development of patient care protocols, and case management of high volume patient diagnoses.
  4. Coordinates and participates in administrative activities related to policy and procedure development, accreditation, quality assurance, clinical services, medical records, and infection contro
  5. Development of ambulatory nursing policies and procedure, as well as related quality assurance activities and monitors and audits.
  6. Devises a curriculum and supervises students that wish to learn about health services for the Stockbridge Munsee Health Center.
  7. Shall be responsible for the preparation of orientation material and the orientation of all nursing staff.
  8. Responsible for patient flow through the medical department.
  9. Responsible for telephone and in-clinic triage.
  10. Maintain adequate inventories of consumable supplies and expendable equipment in the Medical Department.
  11. Insure that periodical maintenance is done on all Medical Department equipment and shall maintain a file of instructional manuals for equipment while monitoring the need for new equipment.
  12. Shall initiate and organize orientation for Physician recruits, Nurse Practitioners, and students to the clinic under the direction of the Medical Director.
  13. Receives and screens patients to obtain blood pressure, height, weight, temperature, pulse, respiration, and initial complaint as needed.
  14. Responsible for monthly and semi-monthly reports.
  15. Prepares patient for and assists with examinations. Administers medications, treatments, and other nursing services according to Physicians or Nurse Practitioners instructions
  16. Responsible for the coordination of the Vaccines for Children Program including monitoring budget, submitting reports and meeting grant requirements.
  17. Responsible for maintaining the immunization inventory while administering vaccinations under the proper programs. 
  18. Must schedule and facilitate staff meetings.
  19. Provide administrative support to medical providers.
  20. Must be able to maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record.
  21. Must be reliable and prompt when reporting to work.
  22. May be required to satisfactorily complete an exam or other testing requirement(s) to determine skill proficiency.
  23. Required to attend job related, in-service, meetings, and training to maintain professional and technical knowledge.
  24. Must adhere to tribal law and other applicable laws as well as tribal personnel policies and procedures.
  25. REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  1. Registered nurse with a degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing. BSN RN Preferred.
  2. Minimum of one year of hospital experience is preferred.
  3. One year of supervisory experience and/or experience in administration is required.
  4. Must hold a license to practice professional nursing in the State of Wisconsin.
  5. Must have one-year computer working experience.
  6. Must submit to a Criminal Investigation Background Check.
  7. Must be able to work in a multi-cultural environment and with a diverse clientele.
  8. Must have demonstrated ability to maintain satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment.
  9. Must be able to meet physical requirements of position
  10. Must submit and pass a background security check to meet the Elder/Youth License Requirement as it pertains to the position and the location of the department prior to and during the course of employment with the Stockbridge-Munsee Community.
  11. Must pass pre-employment drug and health screening.  Must adhere to the Tribe’s Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.
  12. Must abide by departmental and organizational safety, testing, and uniform guidelines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  1. This position requires a lot of sitting with occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
  2. Evening and/or weekend is required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
  3. Work environment requires excellent personal hygiene due to working in close proximity to others and in an enclosed area.
  4. A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or TB Skin Test may be required.
