Every employee of Stockbridge Munsee Community is expected to present themselves in a professional manner to customers as well as other departments. Stockbridge Munsee Community strives to provide a positive team environment where everyone contributes.


Responsible to visit each and every tribal elder at least one time to the best of their ability during a calendar year, the visitor will assess family services need during these visits and make appropriate referrals and follow-up. The visitor may visit to alleviate loneliness or assist elder with a light c housekeeping task.


All employees of Stockbridge Munsee Community must meet the following qualification:

  1. 1. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and health screening.
  2. 2. Must be at least 18 years of age, unless otherwise stated on job description
  3. 3. Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record
  4. 4. Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays
  5. 5. Must obtain and maintain Elder/Youth License as stated on job description.


  1. The visitor must keep a current list of elders in the community.
  2. These elders will be contacted via phone or home visit at least once in a calendar year to make them aware of the program.
  3. Elders will be informally assessed for any social service need.
  4. The visitor may provide companionship, talking, listening, cheering up, and playing games or cards.
  5. The visitor may provide grief support.
  6. The visitor will make proper referrals and follow-up and will also provide elders with list of resources available to them and assist elders in getting needed services.
  7. The visitor is not restricted in assisting an elder with a household task that may be difficult for them. (i.e. writing letters, shopping, doing errands, light housekeeping, etc.)
  8. Assist program in special events.
  9. Responsible to complete accurate records for weekly and monthly submission to the Assistant Manager to maintain reporting requirements for compliance with funding sources the Elderly.
  10. Assist with answering telephone calls, taking accurate messages and completing/posting chore work orders
  11. Fill in, in the absence of co-workers, first called to fill in for Activities Coordinator.
  12. Transport elderly to library, bank, post office, etc… as needed.
  13. Assist the Medical Transport Department when approved by following established Elderly Services service area guidelines.
  14. Responsible to report all accidents, driver infractions and/or mechanical problems to Elderly Services management and Mohican Nation Insurance office no later than 24 hours following the event.
  15. Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record.
  16. Must be reliable and prompt when reporting to work.
  17. Required to attend job related, in-service, meetings, and training to maintain professional and technical knowledge.
  18. Must adhere to tribal law and other applicable laws as well as tribal personnel policies and procedures.
  19. May be required to satisfactorily complete an exam or other testing requirement(s) to determine skill proficiency.
  20. The above duties and responsibilities are not an all inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.


  1. High School Diploma or GED required.
  2. Must demonstrate ability in the art of “visiting”. Able to assess and gain information as to client needs through visiting and observation outside of the formal survey done every three years.
  3. At least one year experience working with elders and aware of some of their special needs.
  4. Must be able to demonstrate effective communication skills, both orally and written.
  5. Must be able to follow verbal and/or written directions
  6. Must be able to work with minimum supervision,
  7. Knowledge of community is required.
  8. Computer knowledge, Word, Excel, Outlook and creative card software preferred.
  9. Must be able to work odd hours, some evenings and weekends.
  10. Must be willing to attend all applicable training.
  11. Must pass pre-employment drug and health screening. Must adhere to the Tribe’s Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.
  12. Must be eligible for coverage under the employer’s liability insurance.
  13. Must have demonstrated ability to maintain satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment.
  14. Must be able to meet physical requirements of position
  15. Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance are required. Must obtain a Wisconsin driver’s license within 30 days of employment if applicant has an out-of-state driver’s license. Must meet and maintain the eligibility to operate a personal or tribal vehicle under the driver acceptability guidelines as established by Mohican Nation Insurance.
  16. Must abide by departmental and organizational safety, testing, and uniform guidelines.


  1. Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

  2. A high school diploma or GED is required. However, if an elder of this community is interested in this position and does not possess the educational requirement, an exception might be considered

  3. Must be a Stockbridge-Munsee Enrolled Member.


  1. This position requires a lot of sitting with occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
  2. Evening and/or weekend is required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
  3. Work environment requires excellent personal hygiene due to working in close proximity to others and in an enclosed area.
  4. A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or TB Skin Test may be required.
