This is position is funded through the IMLS Enhancement Grant; which ends September 30, 2019 and has 1168 hours remaining.  This position is contingent on successful acquisition of continued funding.

The IMLS Grant Project Manager will oversee and execute the goals and objectives of the IMLS Enhancement grant.  The primary focus of the grant objectives is the further preservation of the endangered languages of the Stockbridge-Munsee Community.  The project manager is responsible for reporting, budget oversight, and supervision of the Linguist. The project manager must be willing to learn, read, comprehend and translate the Mohican and Munsee languages in various media formats.


  1. Will coordinate with designated staff from the Cultural Affairs Department on completion of the IMLS goals by end of grant term (September 30, 2019):
    A.            Assist in the collecting of language materials and delivery to the Arvid E. Miller Library/Museum’s language collection.
    B.            Work with Public Works and designated maintenance staff to have Mohican-Munsee signage that was developed installed and displayed.
    C.            Complete all planning and hosting activities to execute a Language Open House to take place July 2019; to show the community the progression of the project and viewing of the materials.
    D:            Will plan and host Mohican & Munsee Language workshops.
  2. Will oversee and monitor all previous activities outlined in the IMLS Enhancement Grant Project.
  3. Will attend the monthly Language & Culture Committee meetings.
  4. Will complete all departmental and grant reports as directed by the Cultural Affairs Director.
  5. Will oversee the IMLS grant budget; complete purchases as outlined by Stockbridge-Munsee Community Financial Policies.
  6. Will collaborate with designated staff in the research, development, and completion of applications for funding. 
  7. Will work evening and/or weekends and extended and/or irregular shifts as deemed necessary to meet the obligations, goals and objectives of the IMLS Grant.  


  1. Enrolled member the Stockbridge Munsee Community preferred or Direct Descendant of Stockbridge Munsee Community.
  2. Must be able to demonstrate participation in Mohican and/or Munsee Language activities including but not limited to:
    a. Teaching of Mohican-Munsee Language(s)
    b. Participation in Mohican-Munsee Language(s) development.
    c. Attend Mohican Language Classes.    
  3. Must be able to work irregular hours such as, weekends, evenings and holidays. 
  4. Must be proficient with personal computers.  Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications is preferred.
  5. Excellent writing and composition skills required to complete necessary reporting requirements.
  6. Basic math skills required to oversee grant budget.
  7. The ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse multi-cultural environment is required.
  8. Must have public relations/communications skills.
  9. Must be able to deal with the general public and tribal employees with tact, respect, courtesy, objectivity, maturity, and empathy.
  10. Must be willing to attend all applicable training.
  11. Must pass pre-employment drug and health screening.  Must adhere to the Tribe’s Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.
  12. Must be eligible for coverage under the employer’s liability insurance.
  13. Must have demonstrated ability to maintain satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment.
  14. Must be able to meet physical requirements of position.
  15. Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and insurance are required.  Must obtain a Wisconsin driver’s license within 30 days of employment if applicant has an out-of-state driver’s license.  Must meet and maintain the eligibility to operate a personal or tribal vehicle under the driver acceptability guidelines as established by Mohican Nation Insurance.


  1. Frequently sit, stand, walk, bend/stoop, reach above shoulder level, crouch, kneel, push/pull in an office setting.
  2. Occasionally crawl, climb heights and balance.  The employee must use repetitive movement of both hands and feet.
  3. Work is generally performed in a library/museum setting with high noise levels, interruptions, multi -tasking, dust, and mold. Evening and/or weekend work will be required.  Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
  4. Must complete a Self-Disclosing Physical Questionnaire prior to employment.
